The Autumn Maple Belgian-Style Brown Ale brewed with yams, molasses, maple syrup and spices from the The Bruery in Placentia, California (Orange County) pours out a mahogany brown in color with a little cloud and a thin tan head that readily dissipates. On the nose aromas of spiced banana and yams with a toffee sweetness. In the mouth the sweetness is more subdued than came across on the nose. This beer has a lovely, warm spice to it. Almost a tartness to balance the sweetness. Hints of yams and maple, but underlying. Medium bodied. Minimal lacing. Moderate carbonation. Slight stickiness to a rich mouthfeel. The finish lingers with the yams holding out the longest. A lovely fall beer that I recommend.
